50 Hours Aerial Yoga Teacher Training Course

Aerial Yoga

BKS Iyengar first introduced aerial props. He tied the ropes to walls and ceilings. Like the other props he invented, the objective of aerial props was to help the practitioner go deeper into certain postures, easily access inverted postures, and assist in healing. Aerial Yoga is also known as Anti-Gravity yoga, Arial Yoga, Trapeze, Hammock, Silks, etc. There is no absolute definition of the term., however, it can be defined as a combination of yoga, calisthenics, physiotherapy, pilates, and acrobatics. Aerial Yoga is a great complementary and supplementary practice to traditional yoga, however, it is not an alternative to traditional yoga practice

Largely, aerial yoga is easier than other traditional forms of yoga as the rig supports the body weight and less muscle engagement is involved. Hence, it is suitable for beginners, too. Moreover, aerial yoga can also be made more challenging for advanced practitioners. Some benefits of aerial yoga are:

  1. Assisted Stretching
  2. Easier access to inversions and handstand variations
  3. Using gravity for spinal traction
  4. Pull-based movements
  5. Relieve back pain
  6. Heal Injuries
